BUTTONS The following buttons are downloadable. These are just a sampling of the buttons we have in stock, or can make from custom designs. Buttons can be made in any size, shape, color or pattern. One of the best ways to use these as website hyperlinks is with image editing programs like Photoshop or Paint Shop and type effects programs like Cool 3D, Xara, and Fontographer (or TypeStyler for Mac users). Buttons can be enlarged or reduced in size, then saved as JPEGs and re-opened in Cool 3D or Fontographer to insert type and apply special effects (beveling, glows & shadows, texture maps) to type. After the effects are applied, the button should be saved again as a JPEG. While Photoshop also makes type effects, it's less efficient than programs designed for fonts. Font-specific programs also tend to offer more typeface effects. One suggestion: while buttons can also be saved as BMPs, TRY NOT TO! The improved image quality is seldom enough to justify guzzling bandwidth for.
An easy way to import buttons as hyperlinks with an editor like Frontpage is with shared borders and tables. First, format shared borders for ALL pages. At least one border should be formatted for hyperlinks or navigation buttons. Place cursor INSIDE the border formatted for hyperlink properties and choose INSERT and TABLE from the menu. This will create a table with one row, and a number of cells equaling the number of hyperlinked buttons to be used, inside the border. More than 1 border can be set for hyperlinks & navigation buttons, and tables can be inserted into the left, right and top borders if they are formatted for navigation. The cells align vertically or horizontally, according to the border properties. The formatting can be performed on the HOME page alone, throughout the site, or on selected pages besides HOME. Next. position the cursor inside a cell and choose INSERT and PICTURE FROM FILE from menu. The chosen 'picture' is the button. Do this with each hyperlink button added to the table. Then, adjust the picture properties for the buttons in each cell to set the length, width, & distance between each button. When buttons are aligned as you wish, choose FILE and SAVE. Since the button tables are nested in shared borders, they will look alike on each page of the website. Last, right-click on each button, choose HYPERLINK from the pop- up menu and link it to the web page it identifies. After all the buttons have been hyperlinked to pages, select FILE and SAVE. After this point, no matter what page you click on, the buttons within the shared border will still link to the same other pages.
